Langtang Valley Trek

A 10-day trek through Langtang Valley, passing forests, waterfalls, and villages to alpine meadows and Himalayan peaks.

Overview

The Langtang Valley Trek is a ten-day journey into one of Nepal’s most accessible, and undoubtedly one of the most scenic and culturally rewarding regions. Also known as the “Valley of Glaciers,” the trail follows the Langtang River through dense forests of rhododendron and bamboo, alongside soaring cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and picturesque Tamang villages — eventually opening up to alpine meadows beneath towering Himalayan peaks.

The trek culminates in Kyanjin Gompa (3,870m), a spiritual and scenic highpoint from which you can explore glacial valleys, ascend nearby viewpoints like Kyanjin Ri or Tserko Ri, and admire Langtang Lirung (7,227m).

About the Region

Situated just north of Kathmandu within the Langtang National Park, the region is both culturally rich and ecologically diverse. It is home to the Tamang people, whose Tibetan Buddhist heritage beautifully assimilates in the landscape through gompas, chortens, prayer wheels, and colourful mani walls.

Despite its proximity to the capital, Langtang remains relatively uncrowded — offering a quieter, more intimate and accessible trekking experience. Though the 2015 earthquake devastated many villages here, the community has since rebuilt with remarkable resilience, welcoming trekkers with open arms.
